Tourists To Singapore Sets New Record
New Record - 951,000 tourists to Singapore in July 2007
Tourism is a major industry in Singapore and attracts millions of visitors each year. There are plenty of cultural attractions in Singapore and it is commonly called the Garden City , due to the vast amount of greens here. With typical Singapore determination , the government has made up for its lack of natural flora and fauna by building gardens , waterfalls and leisure parks.
The beauty of Singapore lies in its strategic location in the southern tip of the Malaysian peninsula. Ethnic places of Little India , Chinatown and Arab Street can be found in the streets of Singapore , each with their own distinct culture. Singapore is one of the few widely chosen and favorite tourist destinations by people all across the world.
July 2007 was the best ever months for Singapore tourism. Hotel cashiers were working overtime , going by the latest Singapore Tourism Board numbers , nine in 10 hotel rooms were booked up. While hoteliers and retailers enjoyed the boom , travel agents have raised the alarm about Singapore literally running out of rooms.
More tourists are expected with Changi Airport’s Terminal 3 opening its door in January , especially given new attractions next year like the Formula 1 and the Singapore Flyer ferries wheel in the Marina Bay area. The F1 alone is anticipated to bring in at least 80,000 tourists to Singapore.
The tourism sector has been riding a new wave in the past few years and it is expected that the industry will continue to grow. The growth in number of tourists is mainly driven by the Singapore’s buoyant economy and improved travel confidence. Singapore has gained immense market standing for competent tourism infrastructure , premium hotels as well as public safety and security. Low-cost and budget airlines added considerably to the boost in tourist influx in the country , by growing their operations as well as connecting numerous countries with Singapore.
Come explore and experience everything the Garden City has to offer ; its’ diverse culture and old-traditions all set within a bustling modern metropolis.
Will Singapore tourists continue to grow and how will the local hotel industry cope with this growth ?
