Tiger Beer of Singapore

Time for Tiger Beer … Cheers !

A chance meeting between local soft drinks giant , Fraser and Neave and Dutch brewer , Heineken , brought about the formation of Malayan Breweries and the birth of Singapore’s first locally brewed Tiger Beer in 1932. The company changed its name to Asia Pacific Breweries ( APB ) in 1990.

It is currently one of the world’s favorite genuine premium beers and is recognized worldwide for its authentic Asian taste. Tiger Beer’s distinctive taste comes from its quality ingredients and meticulous brewing process that involves stringent quality control.

Many people wonder what ” malt ” really is , and how we can get malt from barley. And same question goes for hops , and why do we need yeast. Barley , water , hops and yeast are four basic ingredients that brewers combined to make beer.

But it’s not just as easy as mixing the right amount of each ingredient and you have beer. A complex series of biochemical reactions must take place to convert barley to fermentable sugars , and to allow yeast to live and multiply , converting those sugars to alcohol.

Asia Pacific Breweries use sophisticated equipment and processes to control hundreds of variables so that each batch of beer will taste the same.

Tiger Beer has clinched more than 30 international awards. Some of the more notable awards include a Gold medal at the Brewing Industry International Awards 1998 ( UK ) , the Gold Monde International Award for five consecutive years. It also won a Gold Medal in the highly contested European-Style Pilsner category at the World Beer Cup 2004 , which has beed dubbed ” The Olympics of Beer Competitions ” by the beer industry.
